frustration 8-25-24

I'm tired of walking into coffee shops and offices and seeing people collapsed into their seat and over their table. You'll find this in classrooms and homes too. From a very young age it seems we're taught that it is normal, and any fault can be attributed to some personal error.

validation 10-16-24

I've met spine surgeons, professors, and designers - people that know how the body works through first hand experience. People who's eyes light up when I ask them about my experience rather than glaze over. They all agree there is something terribly wrong with the way we sit and move. I'd like to educate my friends and family about what I've learned, but what then? What if my chair and the furnishings of my room allowed me to sit and move well?

I toured the archives of a well known design team and saw a collection of infamous chairs. Something I heard struck me: "We're not teaching anyone how to sit in a chair, we're working with how they already sit." Well if the way we sit is wrong, surely we must reeducate people and provide beautiful furniture.
